Porte Ponderings:
Kayaking the Old Ausable Channel, I saw a turtle with what appeared to be wings. It was shedding it’s “scutes”. This was my first time ever seeing this occur. The Painted Turtle was sitting in the sunshine and the wings was making the shedding scutes flutter. I had to look up what was going on on-line. Apparently this is how aquatic turtles grow. The outer layer peals off naturally and the lower layers grow. Similar to a snake shedding it’s skin. But, to me this still looks like a turtle with wings.
Today is my 47th Wedding Anniversary. We’re going out for supper at Red Lobster to celebrate.
