Porte Ponderings:
Before I retired from my job at Canada Post, I loved taking pictures of friends, family and for work at various sites.
After retiring my stepson loaned me his camera, a Nikon D60 with a couple of kit lenses. That was it. I was hooked. I took free online courses and learned how to use the settings. I still love the pictures I took that first year.
It gave me a reason to notice the things around me. I learned the names of plants and animals. I loved taking pictures when travelling.
Then I decided I might as well make it into a business and offer my skills to the world. LOL
I may not be a “successful” photographer in terms of money earned, but I do take pride in the photos I take, my website, and keeping my rates low enough so almost anyone can afford a 1/2 hour photoshoot with me.
Photography has taught me to observe and appreciate the people and things around me.
